Resources

I have found many books helpful in my quest to gather information about Down Syndrome.  The pictures below will take you to Amazon for each book.  You can gather more information about the books from their site.  The first is a basic book to get you through the first few months of having a baby with DS.

Babies with Down Syndrome; A New Parent's Guide
Babies with Down Syndrome: A New Parents' Guide

Another book I found very helpful was  Down Syndrome Parenting 101.  I read through this book very quickly.  There is a more emotional aspect to this book that can help you work through your emotions or just see where you are emotionally.

Down Syndrome Parenting 101: Must-Have Advice for Making Your Life Easier

Once you are ready to dive into specifics, there are some great books to help with therapies!
Depending on your needs, you might want to start with a different book.  But, my baby had very weak muscle tone (hypotonia) so I started with Gross Motor Skills in Children with Down Syndrome.

Gross Motors Skills in Children with Down Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Professionals (Topics in Down Syndrome)
There is a chart in the back for average gross motor milestones in kids with DS.  Very Helpful!

More great resources are the following books:

Early Communication Skills for Children With Down Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Professionals

Fine Motor Skills for Children With Down Syndrome: A Guide for Parents And Professionals (Topics in Down Syndrome)

The Down Syndrome Nutrition Handbook: A Guide to Promoting Healthy Lifestyles
